Vibe Coding a Fantasy Survivor Game for My Son

Fantasy Survivor 51 scoreboard showing Jack leading Dad 230 to 215 after six episodes.

Fantasy Survivor 51 is a game I vibe coded to play against my son Jack. It has exactly two players, Dad and Jack, and it would make no sense for anyone else. That's the fun part.

I started it on October 2 and about an hour later it was up on Vercel. It has all the stuff a game like this needs, and none of the stuff a real product would:

  • A snake draft with a coin flip for first pick. Pass the phone.
  • A scoreboard that counts how many of your torches are still lit.
  • One free agent you can swap in before each episode.
  • No accounts, no leagues, no other seasons.

Anyone can watch. Dad and Jack have a passcode to make moves.

Scoring by hand would mean tracking every vote at every tribal council, plus every challenge and idol. So I had Claude do it.

After an episode, I run it from an admin page. Claude searches the web, writes up what happened, and turns that into scoring events. I review them, fix anything that's off, and publish. Some of it needs a ruling, like whether getting handed an idol counts as finding one (it doesn't), so those went in the prompt.

New ideas are just as quick. This morning I added a Forecast that plays out episode 7 using only the episodes we've already scored. If a tribe goes to tribal, Jack leads no matter who goes home. If they merge, there are 156 possible outcomes and Jack leads in 114 of them.

So I vibe coded a page that shows me all the ways I'm losing to my son. He's up 230 to 215.
